I'm not sure if anyone has built Virgo on Windows, but I would guess this is a basic problem with the "D:\" start of the path to the integration repo where built artifacts are placed during the build.

We'll look into it and get back to you soon as we certainly don't want to prevent Windows users from building Virgo.

Hi,

I need to have a go at recreating this, I can see that you are in the Kernel repo, could you tell me what ant command you are calling?

Thanks.

Hi,

1st, I've learnt I have to manually subscribe to forum posts, I don't automatically notified of new posts, so sorry for the delay.

2nd, it's nothing obvious so I need to go and run the build which I will do next week. Hopefully I'll be able to see what is happening then. If it's an issue with our stuff I'll ask you to raise a bug and we will get on it.

Thanks for getting back to us,
Chris

Hi,

I have tried this several times now and have it building fine but the tests are failing to start in the userigion. The cause will be Windows specific as it works on other platforms. We need to raise a JIRA issue to address this issue, I would be very grateful if you could do this and then it will get the proper attention. In the mean time you can try dm Server 2.0.2, it is functionally equivalent (http://www.springsource.org/dmserver).

Hi,

I had built Virgo on Windows without any problems (Java 1.6.0_16, Ant 1.7.1).
Kernel is started successfully with time beetween "KE0001I Kernel starting" and "UR0001I User region ready" approximately 25 sec.
Next library bundles (about 50) from production dm Server (running on RHE Linux) which includes: oracle.jdbc, apache.xerces, apache.cxf, org.mortbay.jetty.server etc. deployed on Virgo through plan without any errors.
After that I properly installed service bundles which includes database pools for two Oracle RAC (cluster) databases, integration services toward web services on third party platforms and web services on embedded jetty server.

So that everything works nicely on Windows like on Linux Smile

P.S.
There's still problems with attached files.

Hi,

It's good to hear it's all working for you. I've tried downloading the file a few times and every time it looks like a copy of some HTML source from the Eclipse forums. I take it this isn't what you meant to attach.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Working perfectly Smile

There was the same problem with VirgoProjectCreationReview PDF file in post Draft docuware for Virgo creation review. Someone should check this issue with eclipse staff.

I'll put kernel log in code tags. Hope that will be properly viewable.

Hi,

Thanks for that. The 'waiting for reference' messages coming out at the start are simply the result of the machine it's running on being a little slow, just warnings so nothing to worry about. Our dev machines are quite fast so we could of set the limits a little to eager. I think if you are getting this on production equipment it would be worth raising a bug getting us to move the limits back a little.

Thanks, Chris.

So, when I turned off some of these apps, 'waiting for reference' messages disappeared.

In addition, I have checked on Linux production machine (RH Enterprise 5, 4GB, dual-core).
Kernel started twice faster than on Win machine without 'waiting' messages.
I used same win build (of course after converted bin scripts in unix format).

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know. It's good to know they go away on that hardware, they really should. This is useful to know.

Chris.

So that everything works nicely on Windows like on Linux :)

Hi,

It's good to hear it's all working for you. I've tried downloading the file a few times and every time it looks like a copy of some HTML source from the Eclipse forums. I take it this isn't what you meant to attach.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Working perfectly :)

Hi Chris,

It's log from my desktop win machine (Win XP, Pentium 4, 2GB) where besides kernel at same time running STS, Tomcat, Firefox, Outlook and several applications and corporate policy services (PF usage 1.5 GB approx.). So, when I turned off some of these apps, 'waiting for reference' messages disappeared.

Log from WinXP (PF usage 750 MB)

In addition, I have checked on Linux production machine (RH Enterprise 5, 4GB, dual-core).
Kernel started twice faster than on Win machine without 'waiting' messages.
I used same win build (of course after converted bin scripts in unix format).

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know. It's good to know they go away on that hardware, they really should. This is useful to know.
