hi..

i keep looking for example on how to extend existing text editors and java editors ot use my own hyperlink detectors, but i can't seem to find any.

I don't know of an example but just take a look at those extension
points and how they are used in the SDK:
org.eclipse.ui.workbench.texteditor.hyperlinkDetectors
org.eclipse.ui.workbench.texteditor.hyperlinkDetectorTargets
