I am going to develop some BIRT reports to set up in Maximo . We were using the Maximo 6.2 before and it uses actuate to develop the reports . we developed some espreadsheet reports using the actuate report tool. As we are upgrading the maximo now and it uses the BIRT report engine , I would like to know is there any plugin/ way which can be used to develop the espreadsheet reports in BIRT report ?

I do not think there is anything out yet for this, but you might want to
post this question on the Birt-Exchange e.Spreadsheet forum.
