AJDT 1.2.0RC1 released for Eclipse 3.0 [message #51647] Tue, 17 May 2005 16:20 Go to next message

The AJDT team are pleased to announce the first release candidate of AJDT
1.2.0 for Eclipse 3.0.

AJDT 1.2.0RC2 will follow in a week or two. It will then be declared
final if no serious issues are found within a further week. This should
result in an early June release for AJDT 1.2.0.

This release will be for Eclipse 3.0 only, although equivalent development
builds for Eclipse 3.1 will also be made available (currently supporting
3.1M6 - we will move up to the new 3.1M7 as soon as possible). A stable
AJDT for Eclipse 3.1 cannot be reached until after the final Eclipse 3.1
release, and also after the final release of AspectJ 5. AJDT 1.2.0 will
therefore only be made available as a stable release for Eclipse 3.0,
replacing AJDT 1.1.12 as the latest stable release.

As for 1.2.0RC1, this release contains a number of bug fixes since
1.2.0M3, plus the addition of a migration wizard, which will help you
upgrade workspaces that have been used with earlier versions of AJDT, such
as 1.1.12. There is also a new "Open AspectJ Type" dialog (available from
the Navigate menu and via Ctrl-Alt-T) which is similar to the regular
"Open Type" one, but includes aspects.

Please try out the migration wizard in particular, as well as the rest of
AJDT, and raise bugs as usual. With your help we can make AJDT 1.2.0 as
stable as possible.

See the AJDT download page for more information:

http://www.eclipse.org/ajdt/download.html

The build identifier is "1.2.0.20050517150219". It should appear in the
update list if you currently have 1.2.0M3 installed and search for updates
to installed features.

Regards,

Matt + the rest of the AJDT team.

Would it be possible when announcing the new releases, to provide a link to a bugzilla query that identifies the full set of changes/fixes?

Hi Barry,

I have included a link for this in previous New & Noteworthy documents,
but there generally isn't one of these for release candidate builds.
However, you can query buzilla yourself using a target field of "1.2.0
RC1". Something like the following:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/buglist.cgi?short_desc_type=al lwordssubstr&short_desc=&product=AJDT&target_mil estone=1.2.0%20RC1&long_desc_type=allwordssubstr&lon g_desc=&bug_file_loc_type=allwordssubstr&bug_file_lo c=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&bug_status=R ESOLVED&bug_status=VERIFIED&bug_status=CLOSED&re solution=FIXED&emailtype1=substring&email1=&emai ltype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_i d=&votes=&changedin=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto= Now&chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+ sort+as+last+time&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop& ;value0-0-0=

I am using eclipse 3.1M7(+) so I am interested in AJDT for 3.1 only. What
will the version that supports 3.1 be called and how soon after 3.1 final
(june) are there plans for a release for 3.1 ?

We hope to get AJDT up and running on M7 within about a week. We'll
release a development build as soon as it's ready.

A stable release of AJDT for 3.1 also requires a stable release of AspectJ
5, so we'll be looking to release as soon as possible after that. We're
still in the process of planning exactly what releases to do (and when)
for each eclipse version - it's looking like we'll have to branch at some
point and have a release stream for each, but we're a small team so we
want to avoid spreading ourselves too thinly. We'll publish more detailed
plans when we can.

Regards,

Matt.
