Hi,

There are many many request coming in asking for translations for
languages. Many of you know that there's a proposed project named babel
which is in incubation and will hopefully fill the gap with 3.4 (Please
correct me if I'm wrong here).

I've done the translations of 2 core projects (org.eclipse.jface and
org.eclipse.workbench) myself and maintain them in a subversion
repository
( http://publicsvn.bestsolution.at/repos/java/eclipse-language -packs/).
Today I've taken over other languages (it, fr, ...) from 3.2 and

If you care about Eclipse and RCP community and can spare about 10
minutes it would be great to if you could translate and helo me by
translating the missing bits new in 3.3.

If you look at the bottom of the language file you'll find a section
where all none-translated parts are listed and it would be great if you
could file append a patch against the .properties file to the following
bug [1], I'll integrate it in my subversion repository afterwards.

If you append a patch please give it reasonable title like:

"Patch workspace_it", "Patch jface_it"

The 2 plugins are the first and most important ones IMHO. If you want me
to take over other plugins please tell me which one and I'll add it to
my repository. Please don't reply to this message directly with the
translations, I'll *only* integrate contributions coming from an offical
channel (in this case bugzilla) because then they are by default under
EPL and there won't be legal issues when the Babel-Project want to take
them over.

Thanks for helping me and many others around the world to localize their
products. If the babel project has a CVS-place those contributions could
be maintained this would be even better and the sources could be
transfered from my respository to eclipse.

Tom

Hi Tom,

We really appreciate your effort in helping the Eclipse community to
translating the Eclipse projects. We've just started the Eclipse Babel
Project. We are still in the design and planning stage. The current plan
is to use the code contributed by Aptana to set up a server to host all
translatable strings. Users from the Eclipse community will then sign up
and translate any untranslated strings. The project will eventually
include tools to aid in enablement testing, translatability testing,
preparation for translation, building of language packs, translation
testing, and more.

Please visit the Babel project page http://www.eclipse.org/babel/ , and
stay tuned for more news later!

Regards,
Kit Lo

Hello Babel project!

We have translated some nl-fragments for Eclipse 3.3 into German, French
and Italian.
The translation includes actually "only" the property-files in package
structure (adapted properties from 3.2.1); resources in "nl" sub-folders
weren't translated, but copied from 3.2.1 language pack.
The new fragments seem to work with Eclipse 3.3 and 3.3.1, although they
are not really tested.

Is there any way to contribute the nl-fragments to the Babel project?

Regards,

Remo Loetscher

Remo - thank you for your generous offer. We discussed this in the
weekly Babel call today and the Babel project would be happy to host
these files.

Could you open a bugzilla request to babel-inbox@eclipse.org, and attach
the files to it? We'll then take care of the work of hosting them.

Regards,
Jess Garms

Hi,

Sorry I currently still keep using newsgroup, but since there is some
activity here, I am also happy to either contribute or review German
translations being a Native Speaker for this language.

Kind Regards,
