I am not using mylyn, on purpose anyway. I still receive lots of mylyn
errors when I start Eclipse. According to the walkback, it gets a null
pointer in ParseInteractionEvent. It seems to be doing an initialization.
Can I stop it? Or am I forced to configure it with the plugins I am
using.

This sounds like an old bug. Please get the latest Mylyn 2.3.2 release
and report a bug if you see this recur.
