Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could help us understand the Dali & WTP
migration roadmaps with respect to adapting DTP.

Looking at the Dali 1.0 plan (1) (and the planning meeting minutes
pages it links to) it looks like Dali plans to have migrated onto DTP
for your M1 release in September. Does this mean Dali will

The WTP 2.0 plan (2) also mentions a two phase approach to adapting
DTP. We are wondering what the status of Phase 1 of this work is and if
anyone has a swag estimate on when it might appear in a milestone
release? Also, will RDB be completely removed once that migration is
complete or is there a plan to support both frameworks for a period of time?

Lastly, is the Dali migration dependent on the above WTP migration
effort in any way?

Any info would help greatly with our own planning, thanks.

John.

Hi John,

I think your first question was cut-off somehow. We do still plan to
migrate to DTP by our first milestone. We are attempting to align
ourselves with the WTP Milestone plan, so I'm not sure exactly when this
milestone will be at this point, although we assume it will be somewhere
in the late September- October time frame.

Regarding the WTP 2.0 plan, most of the internal, WTP related dependencies
on RDB are actually in the JPA (Dali) component. Again, the goal is to
complete this phase 1 work by our M1 build.

I don't believe that the RDB component is going to be completely removed
from WTP right away. There will be some transition time where both are
available. I can inquire about this to see if there is more information
on when the RDB component might be removed from WTP.

The Dali migration is very tied to the WTP migration, due to the fact that
we are a large part of this overall process. We will also dependend on
the WTP build process being updated to support DTP usage.

Let me know if you have further questions on this or need clarification.

Neil

Neil,
Thanks for the answers, very informative. Will the JPA plugins be
packaged as a separate feature, thereby localizing the dependency on DTP?

John.

It appears that the WTP 2.0 M1 is actually going to be sooner than I
anticipated. As a result, we probably won't be fully migrated to DTP by
M1. This doesn't change the dates drastically though. I expect that the
migration will be complete in September, and available in the M2 build,
likely sometime in October.

The JPA plugins will continue to be packaged as a separate feature,
although I'm not certain this will completely localize the dependency.
