After upgrade to Galileo, the list of views from
Window->Show_View->Other... is about 1/3 the size it was before, I some of
these view that are no longer listed have also disappeared from my
Perspective layout. How do I get them back? The *.jar files for these
"missing" plugins still exist in the /usr/local/eclipse/plugins directory.

It could be that capabilities aren't enabled that you want.

Go to preferences, General->Capabilities

I'd enable the things interested to you.

I recommend NOT ENABLING the 'Classic Update' capability.

Let me know if that works!

Thanks, for responding, but... Hmmmmm! I don't have a
General->Capabilities. I am not using the EE version... just the "Eclipse
for Java Developers". Would that make a difference? I'm running on RH
Linux EL4...

I don't know if there is a difference on this between the Eclipse
version but you need the Capabilities-Feature installed!

OK, but how do I get it installed? I downloaded JavaEE with Birt version
of Eclipse and it *still* does not have this "capabilities" feature in the
Preferences. Is that a plug-in itself that I need to get? But from
where? How is it that some versions of Galileo have the "capabilities"
feature when others don't?

What views are you missing?
Note that if you were using the JEE package before and the Java
Developer package now, you should expect that some features will be
absent, since the JEE package contains a lot of things that the Java Dev
package does not.

Hope this helps,
Eric

The views I am missing are the add-ons, not the baseline plug-ins. For
example, cz.mz.milan1.colors_0.0.2.jar and
zigen.plugin.db_1.0.9.v20080914.jar still exist in the eclipse/plugins
directory, but I can no longer choose these view from the list as before.
Both are quite useful and I miss not having them. I don't see any
complaints about these in the Eclipse log.

BTW, I downloaded/installed the JavaEE w/ Birt, but yet my results are the
same. I should also note that I work on a box that is locked behind a
firewall, and so without Internet access on the development computer, I
have to download tarballs any time I want to upgrade instead of using
Eclipse's "Software Update" feature.

On the install dialog take a look on the section "General Purpose
Tools", there you can find "Galileo Capability Definitions". Is that
installed on your Eclipse?

Have you verified with the plugin providers that their plugins are
compatible with Eclipse 3.5?
