when using jdt I noticed that buttons have a common width, which is
broader than the minimum width would be.
Is there a default width value for buttons in eclipse or is that jdt
And what value would that be?

And finally (although more SWT related) would I get this by setting the
width hint of my layoutData objects?

See org.eclipse.jface.dialogs.DialogPage.setButtonLayoutData(But ton),
org.eclipse.jface.dialogs.Dialog.createButton(Composite, int, String,
boolean), and
org.eclipse.jface.dialogs.Dialog.setButtonLayoutData(Button) for where
eclipse sets the widths for most wizard pages and dialogs.
