Connection Framework for RCP - Best practises? [message #31450] Fri, 15 June 2007 17:53 Go to next message

Hi,

I'm trying to integrate the Connection-Framework into my RCP but have
several problems. I hope you can help. I want to use the framework to
connect to a Webservice for gathering data and visualizing via
Views/Editors/etc. My first question: Is the connection-framework a good
choice for realizing the basic-connection? I read that you have
implemented an offline-functionality what would help me a lot. I tried
to implement a dataSource and Connection-Profile via Extension-Point but
have absolute no idea what to do next.- I couldn't find any
documentation how to interact with a connection/datasource on the upper
levels. I'm analyzing now the code of the database-connectivities, but
it's very hard to understand the workflow of this complex plugins. In
addition I don't understand the oda-datasources in the data source
explorer. What are the functionalities you provide e.g. for flat files
with this view?

Is there any "Hello World"- Application or Documentation how to use the
Connection-Framework for individual requirements?

Thanks in advance
