Hello,
I have a report that is made in Rational Software Architect 8.5, the data source is a uml model (. emx) made in Rational Software Architect 8.5. I would mount a birt viewer on a server, but I've tried with tomcat and driver com.ibm.ccl.oda.uml data source does not work. Is there any solution for this?

thanks

I am using BIRT 3.7.2 for my developing purpose and have installed foxit reader 6.0.3 for PDF. I am able to get pdf outputs with the foxit reader version V5 but when i upgrade to 6 i am unable to get PDF outputs and getting error message as PDF output corrupted. Please assist me in this.

Thanks,

Hello Michael,

sorry for my late response.

I have set the padding, so that the pdf looks fine. But what should I do if i like to print the line with a padding from 0 on the top of the cell in future?

It seems like a bug in BIRT should I write one?

Thanks for your help.

To connect to a db like mySQL from BIRT you'll need to create a new data source. You'll want to select "JDBC Data Source". Next you'll need to tell BIRT what driver you're wanting to use, for mySQL I use com.mysql.jdbc.Driver (v5.1).

Next you'll need to provide it a url to your database, if mySQL is on the same machine that you are creating the reports on it'd be something like

jdbc+mysql://localhost:3306/databasename

Then you'll need to give it your user name and password. You should test the connection first with the test connection button to make sure everything is correct.

After you've created a data source you can create a new data set. You'll have to provide it a query, a simple one would be something like

select *
from TABLE_NAME

If you're wanting to connect to another type of db you can select it while creating your data source in the first prompt.

If you need help with your SQL query http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/select.html is a good site that you might want to look over.

How to make a table containing a dataset row show the results horizontally instead vertically?

What kind of data are you trying to display? A crosstab might be what you need to use depending on what your needs are in the report.

Looking at the page source of the viewer it looks like it's because of this

<META HTTP-EQUIV="X-UA-Compatible" CONTENT="IE=EmulateIE7">

Using something like

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9" />

Should keep it from doing that, there might be a setting in IE to prevent this though I haven't found it.
