Starting/Stopping Tomcat without overwrite [message #197183] Wed, 25 July 2007 08:20 Go to previous message

Hi,

My scenario is simple. I wish to use Eclipse and WTP 2.0 to start and stop
one single Tomcat 5.5 server. To this end I have created a server and
selected the option - "Use Tomcat installation ( takes control of Tomcat
installation. ) This works fine, I can stop and start Tomcat - that is all
I ever want to do!

However, if I have configured any Data Sources using Tomcat Administrator,
subsequent restarts of the server via Eclipse seem to over-write any
changes.
There is much written on this subject on the web and in newsgroups, but I
can't seem how to find out how to stop this over-writting from taking
place whilst still allowing we to stop and start the "external" Tomcat
installation.

Is this possible? If so, what changes do I have to make on the tab opened
up by double-clicking on the server? I have tried every permutation of
checkboxes but to no avail. If the solution is to change a path, I'd be
much obliged if you could help me by explicitly stating it. My Tomcat
installation can be found at C:\Tomcat5.5\

Very many thanks in advance.
