Standalone deployment of RAR projects [message #558049]

Hi,

Just out of curiosity, in WTP, it seems the only way to deploy RAR(connector) projects to an AS is via an EAR.
Why can't we deploy a RAR directly to a server's deployment directory?
Have I missed something?
