How to disable built in wtp plugins in eclipse galelio? [message #511997]

Eclipse 3.5 (galileo) comes with a large no of built in plugins that I don't need. Specifically, I'd like to disable all data tools plugins, Mylyn plugins, Xml plugins?

How can I do that from the IDE?

If not, can I safely delete these plugins in the plugins directory?
