eclipse support for struts2 and hibernate [message #213359]

Hello Group,

Can someone tell me please if eclipse suppors struts2 and/or hibernate.
If yes, then do I have to download any plug ins or just the eclipse
IDE for J2EE will suffice.

Hi,

Eclipse supports all that through plugins.
Specifically for struts 2 - I dont know. Try google.

For hibernate use http://www.hibernate.org/255.html

Its pretty good. Last I checked it had some rough edges when doing many to
many. As long as you are willing to tweak the generated hbm it worked
great.

Hello Raster,

I downloaded

org.hibernate.eclipse.feature_3.2.1.GA.jar (What does GA at the end mean?)

from hibernate site. However, the site does not have a tutorial to
explain the following.

1. Where to put this .jar file.
2. How to plug hibernate into eclipse.
3. How to make use of this .jar file to develop your first application.

Can you or anyone who worked with eclipse and hibernate together tell me
please.

Nagrik,

You may want to start with JBoss Tools (http://jboss.org/tools; it is an
open source product) or JBoss Developer Studio
(http://www.jboss.com/products/devstudio, it is a commercial product
based on Eclipse, Webtools, JBoss Tools).
You can install JBoss Tools using Eclipse update manager:
Stable Updates: http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/stable
Development Updates:
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development.

JBoss Tools includes Hibernate Tools.

Hello Group,

In the past I tried replying to this email two times, but none appeared
here. This is my third attempt.

I downloaded xxx.GA.jar file from hibernate site, but don't know how to
install it. Earlier all of my installation to eclipse were through update
manager.

Also I could not find any tutorial as to how to use tool with eclipse.

Lastly I came across JBoss took, which is available for subscription of
$99.

Can someone through some light on it.

You really should look at the site http://www.hibernate.org/ and explore
it:

Go to:
http://tools.hibernate.org/
There is a documentation link on the left
From there you can reach
http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/tools/reference/en/html/

Unzipping the xxxGA zip file will create a folder somewhere. Copy the
contenets into your eclipse folder.
Basically all files in

pqrs
|
|__plugins
|
|__features

will go into your corresponding eclipse folders

|__plugins
|
|__features

JBoss Tools is an open source product (free).
You can download it from http://www.jboss.org/tools/download/index.html.
http://docs.jboss.org/tools/2.1.0.CR1/ is the link to JBoss Developer
Studio documentation, but can also be used for JBoss Tools.
