You cannot change the font for just the javadoc but you can change its
style.
The font is set in the color and fonts in the Java>Editor>Java Editor text
font

To set the style (bold or italic) and or color
Preferences>Java>Editor>Syntax>Javadoc *

That would be interesting for me too.

The current setting (running Eclipse M9) looks like the HTML rendering
of the javadoc as if the standard doclet was used with hyperlinks in
fixed-width. The default font seems to be a serif font (Times ?). It is
a little bit small, and I'd like to change the font too.

I would be glad if someone knew how to change these settings. Now that
code folding is added, I usually collapse the comments and look at the
javadoc view.
