BIRT 3.7.2: Unable to access the data from outer data set using row._outer<column-name> [message #858786]

We are currently migrating to BIRT 3.7.2 from BIRT 2.3. We are facing one common issue with all report designs. Wherever we have a enclosed grid/table referring to a data set bound to an enclosing list, it gived an error saying:
Invalid bound column name: <column-name>.
In all such places we have referred to outer data set column using "row._outer".

Another important fact is that when we used BIRT 3.7 the reports were migrated easily without making any changes.

Any insights would be of great help here!

Apologies for late response, as we were facing an out of memory issue with 3.7.2 eclipse while testing it.
I have attached the sample report design.
