This article describes how to work with profiles using the UML2 plug-ins for Eclipse, But I need a tutorials or documents to more understand the UML Profil and how to create it independently to a tool (with sample if possible).

Hi all,
Actually I was gana put similar question and hope this thread covers what all we need
I am in my star to make UML profile and many of us do the same task.

Actually I did not reach final results or valid ones but I could Explain the path to create valid UML Profile


1-you have to understand fully two domains <one for UML metamodel via UML super/infra-structure and the other for the domain you will create your profile>
In this step you get out with an accurate mapping between conceps in both UML metaclasses and there extension via profile

2- he second step is to use a tool that allow creating profiling UML like Eclipse

3- define your profile
4- impor it in any project to use it

hope this help and if any one has modification please inform

what about the UML specifications at the OMG http://www.omg.org They
cover all knowledge of how to constrcut profiles indepedently from any
particular technologie platform.

Yes but thos who have problems with the many details can read a useful book called "Real-Time Object Uniform Design Methodology with UML"

chapter 3 investigate the UML infrastructure with simple diagrams and chapter 4 explain the superstructure, i advise u get it and read it, i have a soft copy if some one needs it

yes there are many details in the OMG's specification, but if it's possible I need this book "Real-Time Object Uniform Design Methodology with UML"
