With the assistance of this forum, I was able to create a Diagnostic with a data array that included the object being validated.

I need to add an EAttribute to the data array for a complete implementation, but have no idea how to accomplish that, or if it is even possible.

With the fixes in the SR1 build, something like
XyzPackage$Literals::ABC__DEF should work, with the appropriate names
for your package interface, class, and feature.
