[ubuntu] Possible to change to "ordinary" scrollbars? [message #879752] Thu, 31 May 2012 15:34 Go to next message

When I run Eclipse on Windows, I get ordinary scrollbars on my views. When I run Eclipse on Ubuntu 12.04, I initially get a slightly thicker vertical line, and when the mouse hovers on it, I get a little popup that shows the scrollbar.

I'm able to run this remotely and display the window on a Win7 box using Cygwin, but the scrollbars don't render properly. I just get the thicker vertical line, and the mouse hover doesn't do anything.

I would think that if I could configure Eclipse on Ubuntu to give me "regular" scrollbars, I wouldn't have this problem when I display the window on Win7/Cygwin. Is there some way I could do that?

This is a problem with Ubuntu, not Eclipse, and can be removed by removing the Ubuntu libraries that force the overlay (or disabling them).

Here is a link that can help: http://www.tuxgarage.com/2011/04/disable-overlay-scrollbars-in-ubuntu.html

Also you can google "Remove Ubuntu scrollbar overlay" for more information on the subject.
