IAM installation results in extremely slow Eclipse startup [message #567688]

I'm at ApacheCon 08 and after attending the IAM presentation I thought I'd
add the plugin to my Eclipse Version: 3.3.2 Build id: M20080221-1800
running on my MacBook Pro laptop. Plugin installation was successful but
now Eclipse takes several minutes to start up and display the workplace
selection dialog. Any suggestions as to how to tune the startup process
for a more normal startup?
