Hi

XML catalog entries seem not to be exported as part of the general
Eclipse preference export/import.

Howto reproduce I
- in a workpace with xml ctalog enries, do a preference export
(File > Export... > Preferences > All >...)
- switch to a new workspace
- import the epf file
> xml catalog entries not there

Howto reproduce II
- do a preference export
- add an xml catalog entry
- do a preference export
- diff the exported epf files
> no diff

Is that a bug or an intended feature?

Hi Michael,

While historically the XML catalog user entries have not been exported as
part of preferences, there is a way to export those as an Oasis catalog
file.

In the past, the export/import wizards were invoked through buttons placed
on the XML catalog preferences page.

More recently the wizards were refactored and moved to the general Eclipse
import/export framework. Have a look at File->Export->XML->XML Catalog.

We can have a discussion in the bug about whether the user catalog should be
exported as part of the preferences.
