We've been getting out of memory errors with the excel emitter
particularly with the cache variable of the ExcelLayoutEngine.

I saw a bugfix where BIRT now just truncates the rows down to 65k when
exporting to Excel. While this will lower the memory footprint obviously
not everyone's users will be happy.

My question is what are others doing about exporting large excel
resultsets? Running a count(*) in front of the report and automatically
switching the format to CSV? Are there some configuration options I'm
missing that would break it up into separate worksheets?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards,
Shayne
