I recently downloaded eclipse to edit the source code of the AVL solver (available from Dr. Mark Drela at MIT under the GNU GPL). I have the eclipse Fortran environment all set up and running but I am having trouble getting the project compiling in eclipse. I am pretty new to this and I do not completely understand how to set up libraries, makefiles, etc. to get the project going.

I have a windows 7 64 bit system and I am using MinGW. A readme is provided for compiling with MinGW (attached) but I am not sure how to adapt it for eclipse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there an actual question in here? You'll get much better help if it's
obvious what you're asking, the more pointed and specific the better.

Issues of Eclipse interaction with Cygwin and MingGW are typically
handled in the Eclipse CDT forum.

Okay. I will try to be more specific.

I attempted to configure the makefiles for my compiler, but when I build the project I get an error that reads,

"An internal error occurred during: "Build Project". Could not find a file to match the module name: for".

Does anyone know what I am missing?

As soon as you say "makefiles" you speak of something that's not likely
to be answered in this forum. Based on what you've said, you either want
to ask questions in the Eclipse CDT forum (if your question is actually
about C compilation and not Fortran) or here:

....if you're really talking about Fortran.

The newcomers' forum is about getting Eclipse running and using the
workbench. It's not the only Eclipse forum and not the best for your
question.
