The company I work for have just started discussing membership in Eclipse
(as an add-on provider).
Might be a silly question, but what does people see as the real benefit to a
company to spend $5000 a year to be a member? "voting rights" and the
obvious "giving something back into the community" sounds good, but is
there anything else [that I can use to convince my CEO :)]?]]>2004-10-08T13:50:16-00:00Re: Reasons for membership

Morten,
Beyond the voting rights and community participation (which are very
tangible benefits!) there tend to be two main reasons that companies join
Eclipse:
1) As an Eclipse member you are invited to the quarterly Eclipse Members
at Large meetings where the memberships receive technical updates on the
Eclipse projects and the operation of the Eclipse Foundation.
2) A number of marketing and networking opportunities are made available
to Eclipse Foundation members that help promote a companies products and
solutions.
If you have any additional questions I would suggest contacting Skip
McGaughey who is responsible for the Eclipse Add-in providers members.
Skip's e-mail is skip at eclipse.org.
Apologies for the late reply.]]>Mike Milinkovich2004-10-15T21:45:36-00:00
