Eclipse Community ForumsProblem using Database Development View with Indigo
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/mv/msg/223980/701512/#msg_701512
Here is my current problem. I try to migrate a java application from Helios to Indigo for performance reasons. While cleaning the projects and rebuilding it takes a few seconds on Indigo, it takes up to ten minutes on Helios. We have currently no clue to find the reason of Helios being sooo slow. Anyway, Indigo seems awesome on this point.
Everything worked fine until I went to the Database Development view. On our workspace, Indigo lost all our configurations for this view. Also, there is no folders displayed in the data source explorer panel (usually there is "Database connections", and then "ODA Data Sources" which contains "Flat File Data Source", "Web Services Data Source" and "XML Data Source").
We do use a few plugins on top of Indigo (I did not make myself the install, but here is what I know is included in the version) :
- jboss tools
- eclemma
- checkstyle
- findbugs
If I try to hit the "new connection profile" button, I get an error message :
An error has occurred. See error log for more details.
org/eclipse/datatools/connectivity/services/PluginResourceLocator
I window to register a new data source was open, but I could not ignore the error message : I'm stuck at the first step, the wizard saying that data source name cannot start or end with spaces (I do not have any space in the name). I wasn't able to make the "next" or "finish" button clickable. The error message on spaces just block the process.
I supposed the plugin for this view could not start correctly with the workspace configuration we had place for our data source (only one oracle database connection). Then, I went to the .metadata/.plugins folder to try to delete all the org.eclipse.datatools.* folders (I'm really not a specialist, just trying to reset the configuration for this plugin).
Restarting Eclipse corrected some points. Now I can see the folders in the data source explorer panel. Trying to right click on "Datasource connections" -> "New...". Now I can enter the name correctly, no error message do appear. However, there is no option in the second step to choose the driver. The window is empty if you except the titles and the buttons.
Then, next step would be to register a new Oracle driver. Then, going in "Window" -> "Preferences" -> "Data management" -> "Connectivity". When I do click on "Driver Definitions", I do receive another error message :
The currently displayed page contains invalid values.
As usual, trying to ignore this message. Clicking the "ok" button, clicking on "Database connections" then back to "Driver definitions", I get an empty list of drivers. There is only the header of the table with "Name, "System Vendor" and "System Version". Nothing in the table.
The problem is strictly the same when I do try to register a datasource in a new workspace without creating any project or importing anything. Just starting Eclipse in a new place, open preferences, trying to see the drivers for datasource connection, having the same error message on invalid values contained in page...
Please help, we are currently stuck on a 5-min-per-rebuild version, which is... obviously... very annoying
Now that we have a version which runs much faster, it is really disappointing to be stuck just for the database development tool !
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
