MDA Workgroup – Bilbao Meeting Minutes
During the committer meeting in Bilbao a number of companies expressed interest and started the work on the MDA plug-in. The following companies initiated work on a plug-in:
- Capgemini
- ESI
- IBM
There was also interest in such a plug-in raised by Softeam, but they were not able to participate in the initial discussion.
The following action plan was agreed to:
- ESI to migrate current MDA SPEM model from RSA to EPF by <Asier to come back with a date>
- Based on EPF and BUP
- Whenever appropriate, recreate leverage work products and tasks from RUP, rather than recreating what already exists <But because this is open source, create new “placeholders” with the same name as in RUP>
- Place on EPF website
- Per to provide ESI with a copy of RUP/RMC
- Other companies that want to provide an alternative solution, should produce a plug-in reflecting their views. Capgemini is considering doing this.
- Interested parties should review the ESI work and other work and suggest changes and a path forward. Examples:
- How to structure the plug-in in terms of disciplines, leveraging BUP work products, and similar
- How to add an SOA-perspective
- What guidelines and work products are missing
- Structure the plug-in to reflect the outcome of bullet 2.
- Incrementally add details to the structured plug-in. Ensure progress every couple of weeks.
Guiding principles:
- Our work should be based on OMG MDA, but we need to provide a practical implementation of OMG MDA standard. This means that we can for example state that our representation of CIM is done through a Business Model, but we should where feasible keep the trace back to OMG.
- We should provide an optional implementation in the context of SOA.
Outstanding issues:
- We need to determine whether we should call it MDA, MDD, or MDE.
