OCTOBER 2016 EDITION

FOUNDATION UPDATES

NEW IP POLICY

The Eclipse Foundation recently rolled out the new Eclipse Contributor Agreement (ECA). The new ECA has been introduced to make the terms clearer, and more consistent with the practices of the broader free and open source community.

In addition, the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors recently approved the new IP Policy. By the end of this year, we will have two IP due diligence options. Eclipse Foundation projects may then choose the most appropriate one for their project. To join in the conversation, check out bug 496959.

ECLIPSECON EUROPE IS ALMOST HERE!

In three weeks we’ll be seeing many of you in Ludwigsburg for EclipseCon Europe. If you haven’t registered yet, there is still time to sign up on the website.

The week will be full of great program content, engaging activities, and informal networking for the community. Scan the list of conference news articles for an overview of what’s happening.

A huge thank-you to our sponsors for their support; we are thrilled to have a sold-out exhibit floor!

CALL FOR PAPERS: DEVOXX US AND ECLIPSE CONVERGE

Submissions are now open for Devoxx US 2017. We encourage our Eclipse community members to propose talks for this exciting developer-oriented conference, being brought to the US for the first time by the Eclipse Foundation. Devoxx US is March 21 - 23, 2017, in San Jose, California.

Coinciding with Devoxx US is Eclipse Converge, a one-day summit dedicated exclusively to Eclipse technologies, planned for Monday, March 20, 2017. The Call for Papers for Eclipse Converge will open in November.

As a bonus for our community, speakers at either Devoxx US 2017 or Eclipse Converge will be given full passes for a Converge + Devoxx Combo Pass.

FED GEO DAY 2016

FedGeoDay 2016 is October 13, 2016. This low-cost, high value, one day conference is the premier event for open source geo software and open data use in the U.S. Federal Government. It takes place at the Red Cross in Washington D.C..

Geospatial technology is becoming ubiquitous. It is also an area of rapid innovation. The FedGeoDay program is designed to cover both areas and help you learn crucial skills to benefit your career, network with experts, and share experiences.

The conference is a lot of fun, and covers leading geospatial technologies, successful deployments, best practice, as well as the latest highly innovative research. It has a unique atmosphere that is very supportive, enthusiastic, and open to great ideas for getting things done.

IOT DAY @ ECLIPSECON EUROPE 2016

The IoT Day at EclipseCon Europe is back again for its second year! Join us on Tuesday, October 25 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. This is your chance to explore the different aspects of IoT technology and understand how to get started building IoT solutions. The line-up of speakers promises a day filled with talks that will both inform and get those ideas moving! A big thank you to IncQuery Labs and IoT European Platforms Initiative for sponsoring the IoT Day.

At the same time, you can plan to attend the IoT Working Group Meeting at the unconference and all of our other great IoT related events happening at the conference! Plan to participate in Everything IoT @ ECE.
